Here are a selection of widefield images that I've taken. Right the way from Aurora images taken back around 1990, to NLC and sun dogs taken in 2009.
The first section are of the Aurora. I've only ever seem Aurora twice in my life. This was the first, it was after an allnight observing session over in Hockly, Essex. Just as we were packing up we noticed a slight diffuse light in the NE sky. To be honest we had no idea what it was, but we had film (yes film) left in the camera's so we started taking 30 second shots. It wasn't until we got the prints back that we actually realised what it was. There was no colour visible to the eye.

NLC - Noctilucent Cloud are rare clouds only visible around the summer solstice. Usually very low down in the north, and strangly always seem to be travelling in the opposite direction to the lower "normal" cloud. The last image will take you to an animation. The first and second image below were for a display that went right over my head...

Sun Dogs, Tangent Arc's, Circumzenithal arcs etc...
